On a busy Friday night in Dubai Marina, a sudden fire in a towering 67-story residential building turned an ordinary evening into a moment of collective emergency. The skyscraper, home to nearly 4,000 residents, was quickly engulfed in flames, forcing a mass evacuation.

For many of those living inside, the night began with confusion. Some noticed smoke drifting through the hallways, others received calls from friends who had seen fire trucks gathering outside. Within minutes, the hallways were filled with haze, and entire families rushed to safety, guided by both neighbors and city emergency services.
How residents became aware of the danger

Eyewitness accounts show that not all alarms were triggered during the incident. Several tenants reported only learning about the fire from the smell of smoke or messages from friends outside.

One resident, who lived on the 24th floor, recalled going out onto his balcony after noticing a burning smell. “At first, we thought it was coming from the kitchen. Then we looked outside and saw flashing lights. Only after calling security were we told to evacuate.”
