During a lesson on evolution, a teacher wanted to challenge her students’ beliefs. She engaged a young boy named Tommy in a conversation to make her point about the existence of God.
She asked Tommy if he could see the tree, the grass, and the sky outside. When he confirmed, she asked, “Did you see God?” Tommy answered no, and the teacher concluded, “We can’t see God because he doesn’t exist.”
At this point, a 6-year-old girl in the class raised her hand and asked if she could ask Tommy some questions. The teacher agreed, and the girl began her own line of questioning.
She asked Tommy if he could see the tree, the grass, and the sky. After Tommy answered yes to each, she asked, “Do you see the teacher?” Tommy said yes. Then, she asked, “Do you see her brain?” Tommy replied no.
With a grin, the little girl quipped, “Then, according to what we were taught today, she must not have one!” The class erupted in laughter, and the teacher was left speechless.
Sometimes, it’s the youngest voices that offer the most insightful responses, challenging ideas with wisdom beyond their years.
