Deborah Roberts and Al Roker left their busy New York lives behind last weekend, trading city chaos for peace and relaxation.
The beloved TV couple, who work at NBC and ABC, took a much-needed break—and their getaway looks like pure paradise.
Deborah shared that Al planned a special trip to Hawaii for them and their son, Nick. While they enjoyed downtime, their coworkers covered for them back in NYC.
On Instagram, Deborah posted photos from their trip and opened up about her emotional rollercoaster of a month. She celebrated her daughter Leila’s engagement—only to face heartbreak soon after when her brother, Jackie, passed away from a stroke.
In her caption, she wrote: “Life sometimes brings joy and sorrow at once. Last week, I was over the moon when Leila told us her love, Sylvain, proposed. Then, days later, my heart broke losing my dear brother after his health battle.”
She added: “One week, two life-changing moments. Both took my breath away in completely different ways. But here, in this healing place, I found peace.”
The photos showed Deborah doing yoga, biking, soaking up the sun, and watching Hawaii’s stunning sunsets. She called the island “proof of resilience,” with its beauty rising from ancient lava ashes.
Fans flooded the comments with heart emojis and supportive messages, telling her to take care during this bittersweet time.
This trip comes after another big change for Deborah—ABC recently moved its New York studio, marking the end of an era for her.
Though she felt emotional leaving the old building, she’s also excited for the future. And this Hawaiian escape? Just what she needed.
